Terms of Service
Please read these terms carefully before using Typecut, our AI-powered auto video editing service.
Scope and Applicability
These general terms and conditions ("GTC") apply to all services provided by Typecut.
Typecut provides an online software-as-a-service platform that helps customers turn recorded footage—such as talking-head, screen, or UGC video—into polished short-form content. The Platform uses AI-assisted tools ("Software" and "Tools") for tasks such as speech-to-text captions, silence and filler detection, B-roll suggestions, visual emphasis (for example zooms), brand styling, editing, export, and optional social publishing. Customers access the Software through Typecut's web platform ("Platform").
Typecut's services are exclusively governed by these GTC and any specific agreements made with Customers through Typecut's website or directly between the parties. The current version of these GTC applies to future dealings between the parties even if not explicitly reaffirmed. Typecut does not accept differing Customer terms unless expressly agreed in writing.
Free Tools or free-tier access offered without a paid contract are governed by these GTC to the relevant extent. Typecut offers no warranties for free services and makes no guarantees regarding functionality, output quality, or availability of free features.
Services
Details on pricing, plan duration, credit allotments, and access scope are specified on Typecut's pricing pages and in the Customer's checkout or subscription confirmation. Those commercial terms supplement these GTC. In the event of conflict, the specific plan or checkout terms prevail for commercial matters. Customers without a paid plan may only use free-tier or free Tools features, subject to limits.
Typecut provides access to the Software and Tools as software-as-a-service over the internet. Typical capabilities may include uploading footage, automatic caption generation from audio, silence or filler-word assistance, B-roll and media placement, caption and brand styling, in-browser review and editing, server-side rendering/export, and optional publishing integrations (such as YouTube). Feature availability depends on the Customer's plan and may change over time.
General service descriptions and pricing on the website are informational. Promises, guarantees, or side agreements require Typecut's written confirmation. Typecut may update Software functions, introduce new security measures, adjust credit consumption rates, and discontinue or charge for previously free services. Customers materially affected by service changes will be notified with reasonable advance notice where practicable.
Obligations of the Customer
Customers are responsible for how they use the Platform and for all content they upload, edit, export, or publish through Typecut.
- Provide accurate account information and keep it up to date.
- Meet the technical requirements described on our website (supported browsers, upload formats, and similar).
- Report Platform malfunctions promptly with enough detail for us to investigate.
- Maintain your own backups of important source footage and exported videos; Typecut is not a long-term archival storage service.
- Keep login credentials confidential and use reasonable account security practices.
- Ensure you have all rights, licenses, and consents needed for footage, music, images, logos, likenesses, and other materials you upload or use.
- Do not upload or process content that violates law, third-party rights, or these GTC. Typecut may suspend or terminate access for violations.
Customer Content and Data Access
To deliver the Service, Customers must upload or otherwise provide media and related data ("Customer Content"), such as video files, audio, transcripts, brand assets, captions, project settings, and publishing credentials where used.
By uploading Customer Content, you grant Typecut a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, process, transcribe, analyze, render, transmit, and display that content solely as needed to provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Service (including automated speech recognition, auto-edit pipelines, and export rendering).
Customer Content must comply with applicable law and must not infringe third-party rights. Typecut may suspend processing or remove content that appears to violate these terms, and Customers will indemnify Typecut against claims arising from Customer Content, except to the extent caused by Typecut's willful misconduct.
Availability
Typecut performs routine maintenance and aims for high annual availability, excluding downtime outside our reasonable control (including third-party AI, storage, rendering, or network providers). Typecut may temporarily restrict access for security, abuse prevention, or urgent maintenance, and will notify Customers of significant planned maintenance when reasonably possible.
Term and Termination
Paid subscriptions run for the billing period selected at checkout (for example monthly or annual) and renew automatically unless canceled before the renewal date through the billing portal or by contacting support at typecuthq@gmail.com.
You may cancel at any time. Cancellation stops future renewals; you generally retain access to paid features and remaining applicable credits until the end of the then-current billing period, unless otherwise stated in your plan terms.
Typecut may suspend or terminate access for non-payment, abuse, or material breach of these GTC. After termination or prolonged inactivity, Typecut is not obliged to retain Customer Content indefinitely and may delete projects and media in accordance with its retention practices and Privacy Policy.
Payment Terms
Paid plans, credit packs, and other purchases are billed as shown at checkout. Prices may change for future renewals or new purchases; material price changes for renewals will be communicated in advance where required.
Payments are processed by our payment partner (currently Paddle). Paddle acts as merchant of record for applicable purchases. We do not store full payment card numbers on Typecut systems.
Unless a purchase is expressly free, fees are due according to the selected plan or one-time purchase. Late or failed payments may result in suspension of paid features until resolved. Taxes may be calculated and collected by the payment partner where applicable.
Credits
Typecut uses a credit-based system for AI-assisted processing and related usage on subscription and credit-pack plans. Credits are granted and consumed according to the following principles:
- Subscription plans include a credit allotment described on the pricing page or in your plan confirmation for each billing period.
- Credits are consumed when you use credit-metered features, which may include automatic transcription/captioning, auto-edit processing, rendering/export, and other AI-assisted operations we designate.
- One-time credit packs (top-ups) may be purchased separately where offered. Top-up credits are generally available until used, subject to account standing and these GTC.
- Subscription credits are associated with the active subscription period and may reset or be replaced on renewal according to your plan. Unused subscription credits are not a cash balance and are not transferable.
- Credit costs per action may vary by video length, processing type, and product updates. Approximate estimates on marketing pages are illustrations only, not guarantees of output volume.
- Failed jobs may be retried or credits restored according to our then-current operational practices; this does not create a right to cash refunds outside the Refund Terms.
Refund Terms
Typecut offers a 3-day refund window for purchases where the associated credits remain completely unused. Refunds are only available within 3 days of purchase and only if no credits from that purchase have been consumed. After that window, or once any credits have been used, refunds are not available because AI transcription, processing, storage, and rendering incur third-party and infrastructure costs.
Signing up for an account and completing a purchase constitutes acceptance of these refund terms. AI-assisted edits can vary; Typecut provides an editor so you can review captions, cuts, B-roll, and styling before export. Dissatisfaction with creative output after credits are used is not grounds for a refund. See our Refund & Cancellation page for request instructions.
Intellectual Property and License
Typecut and its licensors own the Platform, Software, Tools, branding, and related intellectual property. Subject to these GTC and timely payment of applicable fees, Typecut grants Customers a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable right to access and use the Platform for its intended purpose.
As between you and Typecut, you retain ownership of your original Customer Content (such as footage you filmed and brand assets you upload), subject to third-party rights. You are responsible for clearing rights in any stock media, music, fonts, or other third-party materials you incorporate.
Outputs you export from the Platform are provided for your use under your plan terms, provided your use complies with law, these GTC, and any third-party license terms that apply to stock media or other licensed assets. Misuse of the Platform may result in suspension or termination.
Warranty and Limits
Typecut develops the Software using commercially reasonable skill and care. The Service is provided on an "as available" basis for paid and free tiers alike regarding specific creative results.
AI-assisted captions, silence detection, B-roll suggestions, and other automated edits are probabilistic tools. They may contain errors, miss words, mistranscribe names, or produce edits that do not match your creative intent. You are responsible for reviewing outputs before publishing or commercial use.
Typecut does not warrant that use of the Service will achieve particular business results (for example lead volume, views, or revenue). Warranty claims, where legally available, expire within one year unless mandatory law requires longer.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Typecut's aggregate liability for paid services is limited to foreseeable damages arising from breach of essential contractual obligations, and excludes liability for slight negligence where such exclusion is lawful. For free services, liability is limited to intent or gross negligence where permitted.
Typecut is not liable for lost profits, lost leads, reputational harm, or costs of substitute editing services, except where mandatory law provides otherwise. Liability exclusions extend to Typecut's personnel and agents to the same extent.
Confidentiality
Typecut and Customers will protect non-public business information shared in connection with the Service. Typecut staff with access to Customer accounts or content are bound to confidentiality obligations. Typecut may use aggregated and anonymized data to improve the Service without disclosing Customer-identifying specifics.
Data Protection
Typecut processes personal data as described in its Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you acknowledge that media you upload may contain personal data (including voices and likenesses) and that you are responsible for having a lawful basis to process that data through Typecut.
Prohibited Content and Usage
You may not upload, process, export, or publish through Typecut any content or engage in any use that falls into the categories below. Typecut may remove content, suspend credits, or terminate accounts for violations.
- Illegal content or activity, including content that facilitates crime or violates applicable law.
- Non-consensual intimate imagery, exploitation, or other harmful sexual content involving minors (zero tolerance).
- Deepfakes or deceptive media intended to impersonate a person or misrepresent facts in a harmful way, except clearly labeled fiction or satire where lawful.
- Intellectual property infringement, including uploading footage, music, logos, or other materials you do not have rights to use.
- Malware, attempts to disrupt the Platform, scraping beyond permitted use, or circumventing credit, plan, or security limits.
- Spam, scams, or coordinated misinformation campaigns using the Service.
AI Features and Limitations
Typecut's core offering is AI-assisted editing of footage you provide. Automatic captions rely on speech-to-text applied to your uploaded audio; they are not a substitute for professional transcription where accuracy is critical.
Typecut does not currently offer voice cloning or generative text-to-speech narration as a product feature. Marketing or documentation references to voice cloning on older product surfaces are historical and do not describe current functionality.
Where the Platform suggests B-roll, caption styles, cuts, or other edits, those suggestions are assistive only. You remain responsible for final review and for compliance with platform rules of TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, or any other destination where you publish.
Changes
Typecut may amend these GTC by posting an updated version and, for material changes affecting existing paid Customers, providing notice with a reasonable objection period where required. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance, except where mandatory law requires a different process.
YouTube API Services
Optional YouTube integration uses YouTube API Services to support publishing and related channel features. By using those features, you agree to be bound by YouTube's Terms of Service (https://www.youtube.com/t/terms).
When you connect your YouTube account, we may access limited account data needed to authenticate the connection, upload videos you choose to publish, and display relevant channel information in the product.
You can revoke Typecut's access at any time in Google's security settings (https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions). For Google's data practices, see Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy). Our handling of YouTube data is further described in our Privacy Policy.
Final Provisions
These GTC are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules that would require another jurisdiction's law. Courts in Delhi, India have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to mandatory consumer protections that cannot be waived.
Force majeure events suspend affected obligations for the duration of the event. Invalid provisions do not affect the remainder of the GTC and will be replaced by valid terms closest to the original intent.
By using Typecut, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these Terms of Service. Questions: typecuthq@gmail.com.
